Hi!
Actually a friend of mine was part of an expedition that explored the Mariana Trench a few months ago. They were all really excited about it!
Well, it must be a very cold and very dark place, right?
We actually do know a bit about it, since some machines have been sent down there and taken lots of videos, which have given scientists a better idea of what creatures live in the deepest parts of the ocean.
I’ve read that they have discovered a new species, which is a type of Snailfish (I like the names :D). And actually also some other species, but I don’t know all the names.
They have also collected rocks from the Trench, because they can give us informations about very old volcanic eruptions, about when the Mariana Island arc was forming.
