Hi!
I’m not entirely sure I believe this is possible, but that’s my opinion as a non-expert.
There’s a lot of research going on about Mars, because some scientists think that it would be possible to inhabit it.
Some time ago a friend of mine who is a real Mars expert explained me what the necessary stages would be.
Some kind of reaction could be triggered so that the atmosphere became really similar to ours. This would melt the frozen oceans on the planet and make it look a bit more similar to the Earth. Then the air would still not be great for us to breathe and it would feel a bit like being at the top of a really high mountain. So it would take a few hundred years for that to adjust and maybe some plants could help with that and increase the production of oxygen and also maybe some other way to accelerate the process could be found. And then in theory the planet could be habitable!
This is the very simplified explanation that he gave to me since I’m not an expert…I think I wasn’t fully convinced by it. I’m not sure if I believe it. But this is definitely a very fascinating theory!

excellent question!
i think in theory it is definitely possible for sure. but I think the problem is how difficult it would be to actually do, and how expensive! we know that people can live on space stations to grow food and they can re-use water and air to survive and this is not a “real life” environment is it? so maybe we can do these things on a bigger scale to colonize a planet?
my worry, is that people are generally not very nice creatures… people don;t like to share or work together to make a better place. they like to fight and start wars. in a new colony we would need to all work together to share water and grow food, but i think there would always be someone who wanted to ruin it for everyone else and be in control. 🙁
