Question: Why the water is wet ?

  1. This is actually a very good question! And this is not so easy to explain…
The fact that water is “wet” is not a specific property of this liquid, but a sensation that we feel when we touch it. So the sensation of “wetness” is something that our brain associates with water as a result of learning experience, based on what our hands experience by touching it. But our hands can’t actually detect “wetness” naturally.
There are other substances that might be in their liquid state and if we touched them we wouldn’t necessarily think they are wet, just because our brain isn’t used to thinking like that.
I hope this makes sense, as I said this is more complicated than you might think!
