Quite interestingly, this is actually a myth. So it’s not true that lightning can’t struck twice in the same place, in reality this can happen over and over.
I don’t know where, why and how this legend started, but there are lots of examples (pictures, videos,…) of lightning striking the same place more than once. The same place (especially if there is a pointy object there, something like a tower) can in fact be hit several times within the same storm.
