Question: Is it possible to the entire planet to crack up because of the cooling of the inner core?

The Earth’s core is already slowly cooling. Very slowly. It will last millions and billions of years until the core is “cold” by our standards. So once the earth is close to be cold, I don’t think it’s really likely, that the Earth will suddenly start to split in two and crack up. Some processes will be different and I’m quite sure that we still exist at all then. Suddenly cracking earth happens only in big movies. 😉
But actually, I have never researched the problem of a cold inner core. So this is what came to my mind right away… Let’s see what Daniel (?) says.
