Hi dogan8b!
The part of the Gobi Desert where I am working is between the Tibetan Plateau (with the famous Himalayas in the south) and the Gobi-Altai mountains. This region is also deformed by the continent collision of India and Eurasia, even if it’s so far away! We earth scientists call this far-field deformation. But so far away from the continental collision, the deformation is much, much smaller.
All the best,
Andi
