Ash can be really dangerous for humans! Ash is made up of tiny sharp pieces of rock and if you breathe these in they can really hurt your lungs and make you very ill for a very long time. If ash falls onto crops and farmland then the chemicals can be absorbed into your food and water and this can also make you ill. But, volcanic ash is also really good for the soil as it has lots of good chemicals in it. If you ever see a photo of a farm on or near a volcano, it always has really good crops growing as the soil is so good for the plants! This is why so many people live in dangerous places.
Also, ash can be very dangerous for the technology that humans use… If there is an eruption, the planes are not allowed to fly close to the volcano as the ash can get into the engine and cause the plane to crash!
