I thought having a broader base of geological knowledge initially was a better idea so I wasn’t specialising too early on, especially because I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do and I thought it might put me at a disadvantage if I decided to work in a non scientific industry (perhaps I was wrong, I don’t know!). Also, physical oceanography confused me a bit when I was younger!
My PhD project includes aspects of chemical palaeoceanography (so chemistry of past oceans)..so I guess I didn’t totally move away from oceanography entirely, and oceanography, geology and palaeoclimatology are all related in some way too 🙂
Hi Martina!

Are you interested in oceanography?
